Čechy pod Kosířem Chateau

This picturesque Neo-Classicist chateau, surrounded by a vast English-style park, is associated with the noble Silva-Tarouca family and with influential Czech painter Josef Mánes, a frequent guest at the chateau. There are five guided tours available. The standard tour shows the chateau interiors from the era of the last owners, which also includes a collection of paintings by Josef Mánes, unparalleled in the Czech Republic.

As early as the 14th century, a water fortress surrounded by two ponds stood on the site of the present chateau. And ponds dominate the present-day park. Small Pond offers a nice view of the chateau reflected on the surface. Large Pond was utilised for fish farming, as a source of energy for a small power plant, and for leisure activities. A boat dock was located not far from the artificial cave; a unique swimming school stood not far from the pond. Painter Josef Mánes learnt how to swim in the pond when he stayed at the chateau.

Plumlov Chateau

Built in Early-Mannerism style, the six-storey chateau looms over Podhradský Pond. Especially impressive is its inner façade with huge columns. There are three guided tours available.

Podhradský Pond directly under the chateau is an ideal place for relaxation – there is a nice grassy beach, and you can rent a pedalo or paddleboard, or stay overnight at Žralok Campground.

Tovačov Chateau

The chateau with its 96-metre-high Slender Tower is the unmistakable dominant feature of the town of Tovačov. The guided tour will show you a number of Renaissance and Baroque interiors. You will surely be captivated by the unique stairway, built as a copy of the Vienna State Opera stairway. Other sights include the original octagonal chapel.

You can climb to the top of the Slender Tower and marvel at the sight of the surroundings of Tovačov, full of lakes and ponds. You will feel like you are in the middle of a water kingdom.

The ponds are not only a great fishing area, but also an important ornithological site. Annín Lake has a nice sandy beach, called the “Tovačov Riviera” by the locals.

Velké Losiny Chateau

The chateau has one of the most prominent displays of late-Renaissance living and architecture in Europe. The exceptionally well-preserved interiors of the chateau are also associated with the infamous 17th-century witchcraft inquisition trials. During two guided tours, you can admire the heritage of the House of Žerotín and the House of Liechtenstein – the two most important owners of the domain. The chateau hosts various cultural events, including a theatre festival, throughout the year.

Visitors love walking around the pond in the park, breathtaking especially in the spring when a multitude of rhododendrons of various colours are in bloom. The pond is supplied with water from Losinka River that runs through the park.
