Film residences - a tour in the footsteps of film locations

Upper Silesia is also full of cinematic emotions. Set off in the footsteps of residences that have served as locations for popular productions and discover places known from the screen. As you stroll through castles and palaces, it is easy to feel like a film character and see these spaces in a completely new light.

Film residences - a tour in the footsteps of film locations

Day 1:
Moszna Castle

The absolute number one on this list is Moszna Castle – a place that looks like a ready-made film set. It is therefore no surprise that many productions have been filmed here, and the residence itself has often “played” remarkable roles.
In Inquest of Pilot Pirx, based on the prose of Stanisław Lem, the castle became a futuristic command centre where Commander Pirx meets his crew. In I Like Bats, the castle houses Professor Jung’s clinic – a psychiatrist to whom the vampire Izabela turns for help in freeing herself from her nature. The residence also appears in Daas, made with the participation of outstanding Polish actors, where – alongside other Silesian locations – it creates an exceptional historical backdrop for the story.
Walking through the castle and its surroundings, it is easy to understand why filmmakers are so eager to choose it – every corner can become part of an extraordinary story.

Niemodlin Castle
Many viewers remember the character of Brother Zdrówko from Jasminum, directed by Jan Jakub Kolski, in which the role was played by Janusz Gajos. In the extraordinary monastery, besides him, there also lived three hermits endowed with the scent of fruit trees.
For the purposes of the film, this unique space was staged at Niemodlin Castle. Its courtyards, cloisters and mysterious interiors created the perfect backdrop for this poetic, symbol-laden story. Walking through the castle today, it is easy to find places familiar from the screen and feel the unique, cinematic atmosphere of this tale.

Day 2:
Museum of the Silesian Piasts in Brzeg

The popularity of Brzeg Castle as a film set truly began in the summer of 2025, when Jan Paweł Adamczewski – the hero of the popular comedy series 1670 – appeared in its arcaded courtyard. The nobleman from Adamczycha, played by Bartłomiej Topa, who aspires to become the most famous Jan Paweł in history, was seen at Brzeg Castle in the third season of the production.
While recalling the character’s adventures at the castle, it is worth not only following in his footsteps through the courtyard, but also immersing yourself in the castle garden and taking a look inside. The museum exhibitions present the history of the Silesian Piasts and of Brzeg itself, allowing visitors to see this place not only as a film set, but also as an important point on the historical map of the region.
